Treaty of Friendship, Co-operation, and Mutual Assistance
The Warsaw pact alliances were communist and were formed only out of fear of the NATO alliances who were democratic and capitalists. This alliance, like NATO, was a promise to keep the countries a part of it safe from any attacks from the NATO. Though this pact was called the Treaty of Friendship, Co-operation, and Mutual Assistance and was made with the intentions to protect it was also for the Soviet Union to display power over its partners in the Warsaw pact.
